ONE of "the most important events in the whole of Polish history" was celebrated in Wyre Forest during the weekend as the country was finally accepted into Europe.
Three days of celebration were held at the Polish Ex-Servicemen's Club in Kidderminster to mark Poland's accession to the European Union on Saturday.
Emotional scenes from Warsaw were relayed into the club, in St George's Terrace, during the evening.
The club also hosted a film show on Friday night and during the day on Saturday, as well as hosting a reception for a Sunday mass at the Polish Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Ostra Brama in Pitt Street.
Polish Consul for the West Midlands, Mike Oborski, said: "I think, for Poles, the events of the weekend mark the end of the Second World War because it is the end of the divisions which started in September, 1939."
