Evesham Invitation League
THE newly formed league ended its first season at the Ambassador Club last Friday with its finals and presentation night.
Three finals were contested on the night. The three-man-team event was won by Darren Selvey, Kei Nishigaki and Wayne Sheridan who defeated Paul Griffiths, Adam Griffiths and John Barker.
The doubles final saw Josh Craze and John Meadows overcome Kevin Lewis and Andy Woolley, while Selvey defeated Glyn Craze to win the singles.
Two other cups have been contested during the last few days.
The Consolation Cup was won by Fladbury Social Club who defeated Amby Elite in the final, while the League Aggr-egate Cup was lifted by Amby Boyz who overcame Ambas-sadors 8-7.
The league was won by the Amby Boyz with Ambassadors again claiming second place.
The league would like to thank all the cup sponsors who helped finance the league - Pershore Tyres (Aggregate Cup), The Ambassador Club (League Championship), The Brian Darke Memorial Tote (Singles), and Town and Country Leisure (Doubles).
Ben Lewis made league history during the season when he became the youngest ever league player, playing nume-rous games for the Ambass-adors at the tender age of just eight.
With more teams joining the league next season it can only go from strength to strength.
