AN angry boyfriend ripped out a clump of the mother of his child's hair during a drunken attack, the city's magistrates court heard.
The court was told yesterday that 22-year-old Adam Nicholls, of Drake Avenue, Dines Green, Worcester, had been drinking before he went around to Emma Powell's Saddler's Walk home, in Blackpole, at around 10.45pm on Friday, April 23, where she and their two-year-old son, Callum, slept.
Julie Rosamond, prosecuting, said Nicholls accused Ms Powell of having an affair and demanded to know where this man lived before trying to pull her out of her bed.
"He grabbed her by the hair to pull her out of bed but pulled out a large clump of her hair," she said.
"He then left the room and came back with a golf club."
Miss Rosamond said Nicholls began swinging the golf club damaging the walls. He also struck Ms Powell on the shin causing a three-inch cut.
Nicholls then pushed Ms Powell, who by this time was holding Callum. As a result she fell over and the toddler received a cut to his lip.
Police arrived at the house at around 11.15pm and arrested Nicholls.
During an interview he said he remembered being at the house and having the golf club but could not recall what else happened.
Dawn Cooper, defending, said the couple had now reconciled and were expecting their second child.
Magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report and told Nicholls, who admitted two charges of assault by beating as well as two charges of criminal damage, that all options would be considered.
He was released on conditional bail to attend a meeting with the probation service on Tuesday, May 11 and return to court on Thursday, May 27.
