A TREMENDOUS fundraising effort by everyone for Celia and Alan's open garden and orchid afternoon at Hillview, Bromesberrow, last Saturday afternoon.
Despite the inclement weather this didn't deter the keen gardening enthusiast from enjoying a wonderful afternoon, where many old acquaintances were renewed and two thirds of the membership of the Orchid Society gave support.
Thanks to everyone for contributions to plant, cake stalls and raffle and for the donations of £160 to view orchids. Special thanks to Jenny, the Allison family, Sue and Lisa, Sheila, Shirley, Marion, Beryl and Mike and Anthea and members of the Orchid Society for stewarding. At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, the superb total of £745 was raised towards the ongoing funds for Hollybush Church repairs. What a wonderful result.
This was followed on Sunday evening at All Saints Hollybush by a service for the faithfully departed. Special prayers and candles were lit in memory of lost loved ones. Once again we are indebted to Reverend Joy Birkin for arranging and leading this very meaningful service, which was very well attended.
