A SONG, which is becoming a favourite on the line-dance floor, is helping raise funds for a disease that nearly spelt tragedy in one woman's life.
Half the profits new CD, If I Can Have This Dance makes, will be donated to the Meningitis Trust.
Meningitis is a subject close to the heart of Sheryl Davies, whose baby daughter had a close escape when she caught meningitis.
Sheryl, who is selling the CD, says her daughter Rachelle is a very lucky girl.
Rachelle caught meningitis at six weeks old.
Sheryl says she knew something was wrong when she noticed a rash on her daughter all over her body.
"She had a high pitched scream," says Sheryl from Ronkswood, Worcester.
"I took her out of the house and took her straight to the hospital, she was really ill.
"She was white, her limbs were going a purple and blue colour.
"They were brilliant at the accident and emergency - we thankfully got her to the hospital on time.
"My daughter is now six months old now and she is fine."
Sheryl, who enjoys line dancing, says If I Can Have This Dance is a lovely tune.
"It's been played at Worcester line dances," she says.
"We are sure it's going to take off.
"It's a love song and it's really nice."
If I Can Have This Dance has been released by music artist Paul Bailey.
Paul, who sings on the record, wrote the tune, and the lyrics have been penned by Lynne Williams.
It is the realisation of a dream for Lynne, a mum from Stroud, Gloucestershire, who has dreamt of writing the lyrics for a record for 15 years.
The song has been taken under the wing of international instructor, competition judge and choreographer Ed Lawton, who has written a dance for it.
He is aiming to promote both the awareness of Meningitis, and the CD throughout the line dancing community.
