CHRISTIAN Aid week runs from May 9-15, and collecting envelopes will be distributed round the village. Christian Aid is a charity that fights poverty and its underlying causes throughout the world - its motto is We Believe in Life before Death. Though Christian based, it works with all people regardless of their race or religion, giving money to local community organisations in over 50 countries. Jean Warren, who is co-ordinating our village collection, hopes that everyone will give generously.
The May fair is tomorrow (Saturday) from 9.30-11.30am in the hall, with the usual choice of goodies and bargains - plants, cakes, toys, produce, bric a brac etc. Please go along and support this important village fundraising event.
Also tomorrow is a new venture in the hall. Short mat bowling is on offer from 2-4pm, at a cost of £1.50 per person. No experience is needed and everyone will be welcome. This is a taster session and it is hoped that the sport will become a regular event if enough people attend.
