AS the organiser of this year's May Day in Malvern event in Priory Park, I would like to thank all those who took part and who came to see what was going on.
The roll of charities, performers and organisations is too long to list, but without their dedication to the community of Malvern there would have been no event, and indeed without the activity of such organisations there would be no community to be a part of.
I am proud to have been able to bring them all together and to welcome in the long days of summer. I found that one must not be deterred by a little rain if one is to enjoy an English summer to the full.
The Theatres' staff was more than helpful and I would like to single out the Scouts for the loan of a tent, Dyson Perrins High School for the loan of equipment, and Paul White and Alan Turnbull for the use of their PA gear.
The Samba Band and the Malvern Gymnasts all put in a tremendous effort and performers Zenarcheray, Martin Thorne, Flatworld, Fletcher Whitebeech and Derby band Younogodie put on a great show.
Lastly, but not least, I wish to thank Malvern Hills District Council for the use of the park, and ask it please to sort out the electricity supply for next year.
The dance at the Youth Centre proved just how good this venue is, with a stage large enough to accommodate Explosive Nza-komba and the samba band as backing percussion while the dance floor was packed with lively dancers. Thank you all.
Next year I will probably be involved in contesting a General Election, so another person will have the privilege of organising this Malvern tradition.
Malcolm Victory, Wells Road, Malvern.
