WEST Malvern finished their Worcester Saturday League division one season with a flourish, winning five of their last six games.

Bransford ROVERS 1, WEST MALVERN 3

In a game that meant little to either side, the West made all the early attacking play and the Bransford goalkeeper, with luck and bad finishing, kept a clean sheet up until the 25th minute.

After a goal mouth scramble the ball came out to Ken McEwan 15 yards out, who cleverly lobbed the keeper. The West lead was short lived when a poor under-hit back pass from Greg Innes failed to reach keeper Newman and Bransford equalised.

The second half came to life in the 50th minute when, from a corner, Dave Kelm headed goalwards only for the ball to be cleared off the line but the referee awarded the goal. From the resulting arguments four of the Bransford Rovers players were booked.

Things got worse for them when the centre half was sent off for a second bookable offence followed by a straight red for foul and abusive language.

With the game deteriorating, Bransford then lost another player who once again received a second yellow card only to be followed by a straight red for foul and abusive language.

The West finally clinched the game in the 89th minute when good work by Chris Golding resulted in the player poking the ball past the Bransford keeper.

West Malvern have now completed their season and finish midway in the table.

The West would like to thank Amey for their continued sponsorship and a special word of thanks to Ann and Reg at the Keys for their hospitality.
