UPTON'S annual Folk Festival, which took place over the weekend, has been hailed as one of the best ever by organisers.
Nearly 1,000 people flocked to the town between Friday and Bank Holiday Monday, enjoying a variety of music, dance events and workshops.
A mass public dance took place on Saturday, with ceilidhs under the bridge, while on Sunday revellers enjoyed watching a procession by 30 morris sides from the parish church to the waterfront.
There were also a number of workshops, including one by local choir Vital Spark, a street market all weekend and singalongs in pubs.
Richard Hannah, one of the organisers, said they had been worried in the run up to the weekend that the predicted bad weather would prove a problem, as many of the events were scheduled to take place outside.
But the weather did not spoil the fun as attractions such as morris dancing were moved to underneath Upton bridge.
Mr Hannah said that overall they felt the event had gone very well.
"It was one of the best we ever had. We had a lot of new friends come along and acts we've never seen before. The feedback was 'brilliant, very good, pity about the weather'!" he said.
