JOHN Brain is in no rush to appoint Worcester Rug-by Club's captain. The Sixways director of rugby has seen club captain Wer-ner Swanepoel depart due to illness with Tony Windo taking over the captaincy.
However, he will wait to see how the new Worcester squad gels before announcing a skipper for the rest of the season.
The National One champions have already brought in six new recruits for next season and could well bring in another six before the Premiership campaign begins in September.
Therefore, Brain will take his time to assess the squad before announcing a captain for the Premier baptism.
"There's no rush," he said.
"We had a club captain in Werner last season but we haven't made a decision on whether we will have one next season.
"Obviously there will be an influx of new players into the squad and when we get together for pre-season training, it's then that you can see how all the guys get on.
"Tony Windo took over the captaincy last season on a match-by-match basis and that worked very well for us so we may well be looking at something like that.
"No decision has been made yet, however, and we will certainly be reviewing it."
Meanwhile, Brain has yet to hear anything concrete on the futures of Chris Garrard and Chris Hall.
Both players have been told they are free to look for other clubs while Worcester scour the market for new acquisitions.
"I haven't heard anything from them both so I presume that they haven't had any concrete offers yet," said Brain.
"I know Chris Hall has attracted interest from a number of National One clubs but, with him still under contract, they will have to talk with us about him."
