COURT: The driver of a minibus that was in collision with a train near Evesham was due to stand trial today for the manslaughter of three of his passengers.
Adnan Kadir Karim, an Iraqi Kurd, is alleged to have been at the wheel when a train hit the minibus on a level crossing at Pools Farm, Charlton, on July 7, last year.
The men who died were Islam Uddin Ahmed, aged 46, and Satish Kumar, 28, who both lived in Smethwick, and Soran Karim, 23, of Stoke-on-Trent.
The Honourable Mr Justice Mitting will preside over the trial, which takes place at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Karim, aged 25, speaks no English and an interpreter will translate the proceedings to him.
City firm, Hamer Childs, will represent Karim.
