THE spirit of wartime will be coming to a Hereford tourist attraction this week to mark museums and galleries month taking place throughout May.
Herefordshire Lore is creating a display in the community cases at Hereford Museum about the experiences of many young women who came to the city during the Second World War.
The display - which runs from Tuesday, May 11 to Sunday, July 11 - is based on a book published by the group called In the Munitions.
Also on display throughout May are a stunning series of posters from the First World War, which inspired many a young man to lay down his life for his country - a loss which affected every family in Britain.
During the weekend of Saturday May 22 and Sunday, May 23, Hereford Museum staff are also going to Croft Castle to take part in the Second World War events weekend.
The council's heritage services will be providing its The Life of an Evacuee drop-in session - where youngsters will be able to discover what life was like for evacuee children.
There will also be a display of various genuine objects from the wartime and staff will be collecting people's memories of evacuation and the Second World War.
And during the last two weeks of May, the museum's theme will be Dig for Victory - with a display of gardening tools as well as half-term activities for children of all ages from Tuesday, June 1 to Friday June 4.
