RAIN-interrupted play left Kidderminster Victoria chasing 170 off 37 overs to secure a winning Birmingham League Division One draw against visiting Dorridge but they came up 60 runs short with six wickets remaining.

Bad weather delayed the start, reducing the overs from 55 to 48. Kidderminster won the toss and invited newly-promoted Dorridge to bat on a green wicket.

South African Matt Friedlander claimed a wicket in his second over but Dorridge reached 100 in the 27th over and looked set for a big score until Jonathan Wright bowled Giles Clements for 33.

Mark Mansell bagged the third wicket, that of Sandy Allen, from a smart stumping by keeper Duncan Willetts to leave Dorridge on 130-3 after 34 overs.

Waqar Mohammed (91) had looked set for his century when Willetts struck again for Mansell's second wicket.

Friedlander bowled Zahoor Iqbal for 14 and then directed a hard return from Hafeez onto the wicket, running out Phillips for one. Dorridge closed the innings on 219-6.

Kidderminster got off to a bad start when Wright was out for five to leave them at 13-1 after just nine overs.

Opener Mansell (15) was joined by Nigel Davenport (10) but he soon departed as did Mansell to leave Kidderminster 30--3 after 17 overs.

Young hopefuls, Craig Wood (30no) and Will Gifford (32) needed to score 140 runs in 20 overs. They managed 54 in 15 overs before Gifford was caught.

Freidlander (13) hit three good boundary shots but Dorridge took the winning draw and 12 points to Kidderminster's four points.
