A FLOORING company is experiencing rapid growth - thanks to the popularity of home renovation shows.
Karndean International, in Evesham, designs and manufactures vinyl flooring. It has grown so rapidly since it was established in 1973, that last year it moved into 546sq yard purpose-built premises to house its 120 employees.
Now, the firm, which says shows such as Changing Rooms and Home Front have fuelled the growing demand for modern, contemporary floorings, has won a Deloitte Indy 100 Award for fast-growing businesses.
The awards are run by accountants Deloitte and Touche and the Independent on Sunday and examine the growth rates of more than 6,100 UK companies with sales of between £5m and £100m.
The winners are those companies which have demonstrated "extraordinary and sustained" growth over the past four years.
Karndean International is the first flooring manufacturer to win one of the awards and the directors collected it personally at a ceremony at the Park Lane Hotel, London, in April.
"Karndean is delighted to receive a Deloitte Indy 100 award," said Martin Bell, managing director.
"The awards are a showcase for fast-growing businesses, recognising our ability to provide a unique service to customers as well as our flexibility in a constantly changing and demanding market place."
Quick to recognise consumers' increasing demand for new and exciting design ideas inspired by popular television programmes, Karndean continues to innovate and launch new ranges all the time.
Karndean flooring replicates the beauty of natural flooring with none of the practical drawbacks.
While being indistinguishable from the materials which inspire the designs - such as wood, slate and marble - Karndean floors offer advantages in terms of design capability, maintenance and cost.
The family-owned company also has offices in New Zealand, Australia and the USA and supplies its vinyl flooring to a network of about 2,000 independent retailers in the UK.
In March 2003, it relocated from Offenham, near Evesham, to new, purpose-built headquarters on Vale Business Park, Evesham, where every floor is a Karndean product to demonstrate their flexibility and diversity.
No stranger to awards, the firm was named the Independent Flooring Distributors Association (IFDA) Supplier of the Year, in 2002, and, in 2001 was the Contract Flooring Association Manufacturer of the Year and the Retail Flooring Vinyl Supplier of the Year.
