CALLS to the police by members of the public regarding breach of the peace and criminal damage were down in Warndon last month.
Beat manager PC John McManus announced the reductions at the Warndon Parish Council meeting at the Lyppard Grange Community Centre last night.
Better
Calls about breach of the peace were down from 48 in March to 25 in April.
In March there were 21 calls about criminal damage. This fell by over 50 per cent to nine last month.
"The figures are better than March. The last couple of weeks it has been even better. Things are looking quite good," PC McManus said.
"I think it's the work being done with young people - I think it's had a major effect."
The news comes after last month's announcement to extend measures under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act for a further six months.
The measures give the police additional powers to combat such behaviour, including the authority to disperse groups of troublemakers.
South Worcestershire's designated anti-social behaviour co-ordinator, Sgt Christopher Allen, made the announcement at an annual open meeting at the Lyppard Grange Community Centre on Monday, April 26.
Worcester city councillor Lucy Hodgson thanked the police for all their hard work and said she supported the decision.
