WORCESTER City's youth team will emulate England hero David Beckham with a spot of Spanish football.
Ray Woods' academy youngsters are swapping damp St George's Lane for the Costa Brava where they will play two friendly football matches.
The party, made up mostly of academy second year players, jet off to Lloret De Mar, 70 km north of Barcelona, tomorrow and will have their first match against Bareclonistas FC two days later.
Following a few days of sun, sangria and study of the off-side rules, the team will play Lloret FC on May 18 before taking in a Barcelona match and flying back to England the following day.
Woods organised the trip along with the Worcester College of Technology, helped by City travel firm, Kelly's Travel, and said it was a reward for two years hard work by the players.
"Most of other students at college get to go away on various trips as part of their course but our lads can't do this," explained Woods.
"But Stella Reeves at the college came up with the idea to take them away to play some games and we're looking at is as a template for what might come after this.
"If it is successful we'd like to bring other teams in the future."
