THE acting headteacher at a Worcester high school has been permanently appointed to the job.
Julie Farr was deputy head and then made acting headteacher of Bishop Perowne CE High School when Peter Warner left to join the National College of School Leadership in September.
The board of governors at the Merrimans Hill school has now confirmed she will take up the role permanently.
"The governors have appointed Julie Farr at an exciting and challenging time," said Mr Nigel Downes, chairman of governors.
"She is an inspirational teacher herself and, in her short time as acting headteacher, she has shown the leadership qualities and vision needed to take the school forward at a time when the education world is again facing considerable change."
Bishop Perowne achieved Performing Arts specialist status in 2002 and is looking to introduce vocational subjects to broaden the curriculum for its 1,050 students.
"I relish the opportunity to lead Bishop Perowne into the future," said Ms Farr. "The school, as a Church of England Performing Arts College, provides unparalleled opportunities to foster a culture of challenge, endeavour, achievement, and success.
"My aim is to bring out the best in the students."
She has worked at Bishop Perowne since 1991, first as head of English, then in a number of roles until she became deputy headteacher four years ago.
