STUDLEY A were held to a 2-2 draw with Inkberrow A in the Prudden Road Surfacing tennis league after last weeks heroics against champs Stratford C.
Inkberrow pair Graeme Rankin and Andy Woodbridge stopped Studley in their tracks as they overcame Dave Innes and Gary Jackson 6-4, 6-4, before running out 6-0, 6-3 victors over J. White and M. McGregor.
However, G.Keir and M. Rawlings of Inkberrow lost to White and McGregor 4-6, 1-6, and lost to Innes and Jackson 5-7, 2-6.
In division one Tanworth moved into joint second spot after enjoying a 3-1 win over Inkberrow B.
Phil Wells and Nick Danks of Tanworth beat Mike Baker and Tim Kenneally of Inkberrow 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, as well as Craig Weedon and Paul Smith 6-2, 6-3.
Ken Jones and Ian Phillips of Tanworth beat Weedon and Smith 6-0, 6-4, but lost to Baker and Kenneally 3-6, 4-6.
Bidford A and Aston Cantlow also suffered similar results.
n In the first week of PRS action division champions Stratford C began their defence of the with a tough fixture against previous league winners Studley A.
And it was Studley who surprised their visitors by running out 4-0 victors.
Heroes for Studley were Chris Francis and Chris Hughes who managed to win tie-breaks in both opening sets to defeat the Stratford pair Richard Monk and Andy Craig 7-6, 7-6.
They then went on to beat Laurence Dingley and Chris Peacock 7-6, 6-2.
The other Studley duo of Dave Innes and Gary Jackson took three sets to dispose of Dingley & Peacock 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, and beat Monk and Craig 6-3, 6-4.
Inkberrow A could only manage a 2-2 draw with an improved Littletons A side.
Inkberrow's Tom Trott and Jim Richardson beat Frank Meadows and Mark Hubbard 7-6, 6-0, as well as Dave Rudge and Steve Stevens 6-3, 6-4.
But the villages' Adam Hill and Graeme Rankin lost to Rudge and Stevens 4-6, 6-2, 4-6, and lost in similar fashion to Meadows and Hubbard 4-6, 6-4, 6-7.
n In division one Inkberrow's newly promoted B team struggled against Claverdon A losing 4-0.
Claverdon's Mark Bradley and Andrew Williams beat Craig Needen and Mike Baker 6-2, 6-4, before whitewashing Andrew Jones and Steve Price 6-0, 6-0.
Richard Butler and Dave Mountford also beat Jones and Price by the same score before taking the spoils against Needen and Baker 7-5, 6-2.
Bidford A could only manage a 2-2 draw against Tanworth.
Nick Danks and Phil Wells (Tanworth) lost to Matt Saunders and Andy Cox 2-6, 3-6, but beat Simon Price and Malcolm Dewsbury of Bidford 6-2, 6-2.
Ken Jones and Ian Phillips (Tanworth) beat Price and Dewsbury 6-2, 6-4, but lost to Saunders and Cox 4-6, 2-6.
