EVERYTHING appears to be clicking into place for the Frizzell County Championship clash at Stratford next month. Even the wiring for the stump cameras is already fitted!
Hotels in the town are reporting brisk business for the weekend when Warwickshire play host to Lancashire at Swans Nest Lane in a four-day game starting on Friday, June 18.
Local suppliers are also taking the opportunity to play their part in what will be the first first-class cricket match to be played at the ground in more than 50 years.
Amity Events, who are looking after the corporate side of things, report tremendous interest in the hospitality packages available for the opening three days of what promises to be feast of cricket action in a game being sponsored by Chase Midland PLC.
The match is the only four-day County Championship clash being televised during the summer months by Sky Television, who are bound to go full tilt at promoting the game as it draws nearer.
Stratford Rugby Club will be used for car parking during the weekend, while a similar deal is being discussed with Racecourse officials at Luddington Road.
Tickets are now on sale priced £10 for adults and £5 for juniors and oaps. They can be bought by ringing the Edgbaston ticket hotline on 0121 446 5506, by logging on to the website at www.edgbaston.com or from the Stratford-upon-Avon Tourist Information Centre.
Warwickshire CCC members will be admitted free of charge on the production of a valid membership card, but members of Stratford CC will not be entitled to free admission as stated in the original ticketing details from Edgbaston.
