REDDITCH Council's executive committee will tonight decide the fate of a proposed skating facility in Morton Stanley Park which has caused a huge rift in the Headless Cross community.
The committee has been given three options - to agree to provide a permanent facility in the park, to completely abandon plans, or to provide a facility for 12 months with the understanding that if residents are disturbed by antisocial behaviour, the equipment will be removed and re-sited elsewhere in the town.
A survey conducted among residents several months ago revealed 53 per cent supported the plan, 27 per cent were against it and 20 per cent had no preference either way.
The council also received two petitions, one with 225 signatures of people in favour of the skate facility and one with 83 signatures of residents who objected to it.
The council has three options on where to locate the facility within the park.
