COMMENDATIONS were today being presented to 24 police officers and staff based at Redditch police station.
Chief Supt Mark Howard, of North Worcestershire Division, was due to hand out certificates for bravery, arrests and securing sentences for serious crimes.
Redditch officers Sgt Mandy Bott, Pc Ian Squires and Pc Andy Jones were receiving commendations after a display of bravery on November 9.
The officers attended the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Studley Road where one driver was trapped.
The vehicle began to smoke heavily and there were concerns it would suddenly catch fire and endanger the life of the driver.
A police spokesman said: "At this time, the fire brigade had not arrived. With complete disregard for their own safety Sgt Bott, together with Pc Jones and Pc Squires, managed to pull the driver clear."
Chief Supt Howard said: "It's important the public see the tremendous work that many of our officers carry out on a daily basis as part of their everyday working lives."
