A DERELICT site in Batchley is being demolished to make way for new homes.
Garages in Ash Tree Road have been targeted by vandals and people living near the site welcomed the move, which will see six bungalows replace the eyesore.
On Monday, the Mayor and members of Redditch Co-operative Homes helped to begin the demolition work.
Future residents have already been involved in designing how the properties will eventually look and have spent 18 months working with the project team.
Redditch Co-operative Homes chairman Ken Somner said: "This site will make a big difference, not only to the neighbours who have suffered from anti-social behaviour on the site for years but also for the six families who will be housed in purpose built, high quality bungalows."
