OLDER residents can raise issues concerning them at a meeting being held this month.

Redditch Over 50s Forum, which has been running for about a year, is hosting the session at Redditch Town Hall on May 20 at 10am.

Since the group began, members have been busy investigating concerns about health, transport, accommodation, fear of crime and the environment - but they believe finding solutions to problems is often dependent upon the support of the public.

Originally, two of the main concerns voiced by residents were public transport, particularly the bus service, and the level of care older people receive after being discharged from hospital.

A spokesman said: "This is a non-profit making organisation but we do need the people of Redditch to help us in our efforts to promote better conditions for the retired and the disabled members of our community.

"The committee cannot do this alone."

The spokesman added: "We urge people to attend our annual meeting, where we hope to have speakers who are primarily concerned with transport.

"We would like residents to come and tell them how they feel about the issue and say what they think needs to be done in Redditch."

The forum will soon be opening its new office in the Halcyon Centre near the old college building.

People can also leave an answer phone message on 585460 and a committee member will return the call.
