YOUNGSTERS hope to have raised £300 towards repair work on Alcester's skate ramp with a sponsored event on Sunday.
About 30 teenagers skated round and round the Greig Centre sports hall during the three-hour event, one setting a record of 900 laps.
The youngsters, who all attend the Alcester Youth Project on Thursday nights, organised the event after Alcester Town Council announced the ramps may have to be taken down after constant attacks by vandals.
Greig Centre staff and one town councillor, Eric Payne, went along to support the skaters and Alcester Youth Project has promised to match the funds raised.
Volunteer Bill Bayley said: "I'm really pleased with their effort and grateful to the Greig Centre staff for their support and for donating the hall free of charge for the three hours we were in there."
The skate park was due to be discussed at Alcester Town Council last night.
