IT'S been a busy few days for the boys from Tenbury Fire Brigade. Last Saturday morning they armed themselves with buckets, brushes and soap suds, to set up a car wash in Palmer's Meadow. Dedicated washing and brushing of motorists' vehicles meant they were able to raise just over £250 for the Fire Services Benevolent Fund.
On Monday night, they turned out for a three-hour rescue operation which saw a Welsh Cob pony in difficulties in the river in Hay Lane, just off the A49, close to the Tenbury turn, near Leominster.
Once it was out of the water, the distressed pony couldn't get up on its feet and had to be lifted up the steep bank using a hoist.
