FLOWER CLUB: Jackie Harris was the demonstrator at the April meeting and she passed on tips to fellow arrangers. Members were saddened to hear she will not be demonstrating any more. The May demonstrator is Georgina Burrell from Rugby, on May 19 at 7.30pm, St Wulstan's Hall, Priest Lane, Pershore. Visitors welcome.
LADIES' GUILD: Showery cool weather did not affect the attendance for the May meeting of the Ladies' Guild.
Mr Steven Bruce was the speaker on the subject of Antiques. He talked about some of the objects which both he and members had brought along; answered questions and gave tips on collecting and buying antiques. Mrs Bateman gave a vote of thanks.
After the tea break, Mrs Lockhart announced that three members had died during the past week - Mesdames Betty Tuffin, Jean Nicholds and Rosemary Machin. A short silence was observed in their memory.
New members Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Marshall were welcomed.
At the June meeting suggestions are wanted for this year's charity and will be voted on in July.
The coach to Tewkesbury for the Severn Cruise on May 20 will leave Paddock Close at 2pm and Broad Street at 2.10pm, returning about 6pm. A few seats were still available for the theatre and Lavender Farm visits and a possible Cotswold Tour to see the autumn colours may be arranged.
The chairman was present at the Town Hall on May 1 when the Guilded Lilies provided part of the entertainment for the Mayor's birthday celebrations. She congratulated them and their director, June Herbert, on a wonderful performance, which had been greatly enjoyed.
The skittles players continue to meet on the second Tuesday of each month.
In reporting on the recent meeting of the Literary Appreciation group, Mrs Loach paid tribute to Mrs J Nicholds who had been a generous hostess to them on many occasions.
A raffle was held and raised £66.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 1 in Wulstan Hall at 2pm when Sue Robinson will give a demonstration of Microwave cooking. The sales table will be store cupboard items.
