A DEBILITATING illness that causes chronic fatigue was put under the spotlight when the Worcestershire ME Support Group held an open day.
Liz Lynne MEP, president of the Shropshire ME support group, visited the event at Unity House day centre, in Stanley Road, Worcester, yesterday.
City group co-ordinator Jill Pigott said dozens of people had popped into the centre to meet Ms Lynne and find out more about ME during the day, which was aimed at raising awareness about the illness.
The condition causes profound exhaustion, muscle pain and problems such as loss of memory and concentration. It can also be known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome.
"The open day went very well," said Mrs Pigott, from Warndon Villages.
"It coincided with International ME Awareness Day and we had about 45 people coming in and meeting Liz Lynne and finding out about ME."
The Worcestershire ME Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at Unity House, from 2pm to 4.30pm, and also at Kidderminster Library, in Market Street, on the third Wednesday of each month, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
