I SEE from the business pages (Shuttle/ Times and News, April 29), that several Conservative MEPs have been visiting Wyre Forest recently.
One of them claims that British business is being "strangled by European red tape".
With the European elections only weeks away could I ask MEP Malcolm Harbour, what exactly does he mean?
Could it be Conservative policy to rid business of red tape which, in effect, means sweeping away all, or most of, the employment acts and health and safety regulations which were introduced in the second half of the 20th century?
The consequence of this would be to plunge us all back to the abuses of the industrial revolution and the workhouse.
Could removal of this "red tape" also include sweeping away environmental legislation?
Is it any wonder that one of our MEPs, Philip Bushill-Matthews, who was also on the visit, should have one of the worst voting records on environmental legislation in the European Parliament?
