EVESHAM'S new mayor has launched his own website to keep residents up to date with events during his year in office.
Councillor Andrew Dyke was officially elected mayor at the town hall on Monday. He said he planned to spend the next 12 months doing all he could to promote the town.
Coun Dyke said: "In the council chamber there are nine boards listing previous mayors of Evesham. In those early years the mayor was someone to be trusted and take a lead. The role of mayor in that respect has not changed.
"As mayor, I intend to promote Evesham in whatever media - a healthy local economy will benefit us all."
His chosen charities during the year are DART, the Disabled Afloat Riverboats Trust, and Evesham's Riverside Shopmobility.
Outgoing mayor Patrick Clifford thanked his fellow councillors, mayoress Jean Lowe and other supporters during his year in office. He added that fundraisers, including the successful Bonfire Night event, raised £5,500 for his charities - Evesham and Pershore MIND, Evesham Sea Cadets and the County Air Ambulance.
