LAND girls and evacuees with memories of Croft Castle during World War Two living Tenbury and the Teme Valley are needed for an event in May which will put the castle's role under the spotlight.
Between autumn 1939 and spring 1946 the castle was a school and the National Trust is eager to hear from former pupils, teachers and anyone work-ing in and around the estate during the war years.
"World War at Croft Castle" is planned for Saturday and Sunday, May 22/23 as the finale for Adult Learners' Week and the family event will include exhibitions, demonstrations and the chance to share experiences of living in Herefordshire during the those dark times.
"We would be delighted to hear from people who can tell us about their experiences here," explained David Atkins, house manager at Croft Castle.
There will be a chance to ride on 1940's vehicles enjoy live music from the era as well as getting the feel of the rural and domestic life of the period.
The event will also provide an opportunity for people to record memories and experiences as part of the BBC 'People's War' campaign and Paul Olver from Herefordshire Learning and Skills Council said "This is a great way for young people to learn about this important part of our history.
