The Kidderminster branch hosted the West Midland annual meeting, which concluded with a "questions and answers" session.
Leo Smith gave an illustrated talk on "Birds of the Long Mynd", at the last indoor meeting of the season, outlining the natural make-up of the Long Mynd. The National Trust manages the vegetation and bird breeding projects are ongoing.
On May 2 the field meeting was at the Long Mynd when reed buntings were in full breeding plumage, and the head of a red grouse appeared above the heather, while whinchat, stonechat, meadow and tree pipits and some predators, including a peregrine, were among the day's sightings.
A Dawn Chorus walk will be held on Kinver Edge on Sunday, May 23, members meeting at the warden's lodge at 5am.
On Wednesday, September 22 at 7.30pm in St Oswald's Church Centre, Kidderminster, Rosemary Winnall will give an illustrated talk on the woodpeckers of Rock Coppice.
