A NEW series of guided walks called Walkpast, will be taking place on Sunday afternoons over the summer and autumn months.
The walks, which will take place in the Worcestershire countryside, will give people the opportunity to look at archaeological features and discover historic landscapes.
They will start at 2pm, and last between two to three hours, led by staff of the Worcestershire County Council's Historic Environment and Archaeology Service.
The first Walkpast starts this Sunday, in the area of Ripple, Upton-upon-Severn, meeting at Ripple Church at 2pm.
One of this Sunday's walk leaders will be Darren Miller, the project leader for the recent excavations near Ripple, where prehistoric monuments and a Roman settlement were discovered buried on the floodplain.
Civil War expert Malcolm Atkin will also be on the walk to explain about the battlefield site and talk about what happened in this part of Worcestershire in the mid 17th Century.
All walks are suitable for both beginners and people who would like to further develop their knowledge of archaeology.
For booking information ring Mo Bogaard on 01905 855455, and for details about the walks ring Deborah Overton on 01905 855494.
Each walks cost £5 for adults, £1 for children, and £3 concessions.
