YOUNGSTERS from Upton CE Primary School are looking forward to seeing their names in print after having work selected for a regional poetry anthology.
The pupils, aged between seven and 10, entered a competition organised by the Young Writers website to encourage children to read, write and enjoy poetry.
There were around 67,000 entries nationwide and 64 poems from Upton Primary pupils were then chosen for inclusion in Once Upon a Rhyme Worcestershire, an anthology of 400 poems from county schools, due to be published shortly. The book will be available in most bookshops and winners will also receive a certificate.
Head teacher Mark Mumby said: "We're very pleased. I think it's a reflection on the hard-working creativity of the children and obviously, their poetry-writing skills. The children are thrilled to think their work will be in print."
