THE April walk of Staunton & District Rambling Club was true to form with very heavy storms, but they managed to get the walk in during a reasonably dry spell. Clive Jakeman and Flash led the walk through the mud and puddles, making their way to the top of May Hill. There was a mass of spring flowers and the leaves were unfurling as they walked through the wood. After a short break, leaving quickly because of the gathering storm, the ramblers traversed the north end side of the hill through some bluebells and the last of the daffodils and an increasing variety of bird song, arriving at the Yew Tree car park just as the clouds broke with a very heavy storm.
