MOVE over Calendar Girls - Calendar mums are posing for their own pictures to promote the benefits of breastfeeding.

Members of the Evesham Breastfeeding Mothers' group will be pictured with their babies at well-known landmarks around the town including Abbey Park and the war memorial, as part of a calendar in aid of the National Childbirth Trust.

Organiser Tamsin Arthurs said: "Our aim is to get breastfeeding in the public eye, to show that not only is it an acceptable thing to do in public but something that should be celebrated. Evesham's landmarks seemed fitting because all the women taking part live round here and regularly feed their babies in the area.

"Breastfeeding has taken a bit of a knock recently and we just felt that something like this would redress the balance. A calendar was a bit tongue in cheek - calendars and breasts seem to be very much associated with each other, so we thought it was about time someone showed them being properly used for once."

The first photo shoot for the calendar was held on Monday and coincides with National Breastfeeding Awareness week.

Copies of the calendar can be pre-ordered by emailing nct@valeofevesham.co.uk or phoning 07890 612439.

From October, copies can be ordered from the website of the National Childbirth Trust's Evesham branch.

The group is also celebrating Breastfeeding Awareness week with coffee and cake at Evesham Baptist Church in Cowl Street next Friday, May 20 from 12noon. For further details, contact Jane Watson on 01386 765798.
