How disappointing to read in last week's Gazette that Malvern Town Council has reduced the number of band concerts in Priory Park by a third this summer because of a shortage of marshals!
I don't recall that there has been an appeal for more marshals through the columns of your newspaper and perhaps supporters of the participating bands would have rallied round if they had been informed of the situation.
To have a bandstand, a beautiful park with the Hills as a backdrop, a cafe and children's play area nearby, large audiences and then to cancel a large number of performances by excellent bands seems a very short-sited decision by the council - more next year?
