THE dramatic partial collapse of a house on the side of the Malvern Hills was reported in the Gazette 25 years ago.
The owners of Mount House, in St Ann's Road, were alarmed to hear creaking noises coming from one side of the hillside property.
Mrs Angela Baddeley and a neighbour moved furniture away from the noisy wall, but a corner of the house then collapsed.
Husband Derek told the Gazette that the collapse was not totally unexpected; problems with the structure had been noticed since the drought of 1976. Nonetheless, he described it as a "darned nuisance". Work had already started on repairs to the house when the collapse happened.
