AN ex-bomb disposal expert who lost his arm and leg clearing mines in Mozambique inspired police officers to challenge the way they think during a visit to Worcester yesterday.
Chris Moon, aged 41, a former military police officer, visited West Mercia's force HQ in Hindlip, Worcester, to tell staff how he faced and overcame difficult personal and professional obstacles in his life.
Chief Constable Paul West said he was delighted the MBE holder, who conquered the 300-mile desert crossing of California's Death Valley on false legs in 2001, was able to motivate and enthuse the officers.
"By listening to others, drawing on their strengths and applying their determination to our sphere of activity, I am convinced we can all achieve more for the communities we serve," he said.
In June, Mr Moon, from Surrey, who completed the London Marathon a year after having his limbs amputated, will be walking the length of the UK - 1,300 miles - in just 25 days, for charity.
