EVESHAM Library will be closed for three weeks from from Monday, May 31, for refurbishment.
Walls will be repainted and new carpets fitted.
The library is due to open again on Monday, June 21.
County councillor Clive Holt of Evesham Town Division said: "I hope the temporary closure won't cause too many problems for people, because it's important that we keep our facilities in good order.
"The work means that the people of Evesham will be able to enjoy a well-kept building to match the high standards of the facilities and services on offer, once it re-opens."
All of the library books will be packed away for safe keeping for the work to take place, and regular visitors will be urged to take advantage of other libraries in the meantime.
Coun Holt said: "Library membership allows visitors to use all of Worcestershire's libraries. Pershore library is not too far away and could be a useful substitute for some people, while Evesham library is closed."
Anyone borrowing books between now and the closure date will have books and music stamped for return on a date after Evesham library re-opens.
They will also be able to borrow extra items to allow for the extra weeks.
