A WORCESTER cheese maker has been flying the flag for British produce at a food exhibition in Norway.
Colin Anstey, of Anstey's of Worcester, was one of 30 small food producers from Britain invited to the British embassy, in Oslo, for a British food promotion last week.
Mr Anstey, who runs the company from Broomhall Farm, Worcester, with wife Alyson, was invited to Oslo after meeting some Norwegians at an exhibition in Birmingham, and said they were "very enthusiastic" about British products.
"I did the expo at the National Exhibition Centre, in March and some Norwegian visitors, who had gone to the expo, then came and visited our farm," he said.
"And they were intrigued by our cheeses! There is a growing interest in British products in Oslo - they are very enthusiastic - and there are strong links between Britain and Norway, which is becoming much more adventurous with its food and looking for good products to buy."
Mr Anstey met the Norwegian food press during his two-day stay in Oslo, as well as importers and shop and delicatessen owners, with a view to "putting more products into Norway".
Ambassador
"I had a long chat with the British Ambassador in Norway, Mrs Mariot Leslie, and she is very enthusiastic about British foods."
Anstey's of Worcester produce award-winning cheeses including its traditional Double Gloucester and its Old Worcester White, which both won Silver awards at last year's British Cheese Festival.
