A drug addict who tried to burgle a neighbour's home has been remanded in custody.

Kevin Jones, of Gilgal, Stourport-on-Severn, also attacked a man trying to detain him.

At Worcester Crown Court Jones, aged 24, admitted attempted burglary and an assault on Jonathan Pardoe with intent to resist arrest.

Defence counsel Tim Harrington said Jones carried out the offences on Monday, March 22 during a drug treatment and testing order imposed by the courts as an alternative to custody for earlier offences.

He said when he was sentenced at a date to be fixed it would be his first prison term.
