WEDNESDAY CLUB: Members were entertained by Mrs Margaret Harding. Mrs Harding has in the past suffered serious illness and since recovery has begun a series of visits to groups in aid of her charity to raise money for diagnostic equipment for the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital. Members listened to her story and were entertained by her warm-hearted presentation of her songs, rhymes and sketches, many of which she had composed and written.
In the absence of the chairman, the chair was taken by Mrs Philipson, who has joined the committee again. At the meeting members agreed to give a donation to David Butterworth of Mickleton Methodist Church, on his journey to help a poor community in Belize.
In May, 37 members took a coach out of Mickleton on a visit to the Jenny Ring Craft Centre and Hanbury Hall. Craft workers showed jewellery-making, wood-carving, glass-blowing, beautiful Indian rugs, emrico T-shirts, ironwork, pottery and needlework. In the afternoon members toured Hanbury Hall and its gardens.
On June 2 the speaker is Mr Edmund Futers, whose talk is entitled The Boy in An Apiary.
RACE NIGHT: The Race Night, due to be held on June 5, has been postponed until early next year.
