A NEW centre that provides support for Worcestershire carers is celebrating after being inundated with more than 2,000 requests for help since it opened.
Worcestershire County Council's Carers' Unit opened in January - and is proving to be a huge hit with county residents.
Staff at the unit, based at Pierpoint House, Pierpoint Street, in Worcester City centre, have been kept busy with calls from carers asking for help and further information about services available to them.
Angela Cantrell, the unit's customer services adviser, said: "We are over the moon with the response we have had - it has increased the amount of carers on our database to 1,466.
Emergency
"Our packs give information on a range of issues including useful contacts, getting a break, assessments, money matters and the emergency card."
The new unit, which has been set up and designed to make life easier for carers across the county, is a central point for information and support for both carers and professionals.
