BIRMINGHAM Jazz presents three opportunities to enjoy different artistes in the course of the coming week.
Starting tonight The Jam House, St Paul's Square, Birmingham, is the venue for Amp Fiddler from Detroit.
A Birmingham Jazz spokesman describes his style as: "The sounds of 70s soul, funk and jazz brought into the 21st century, adding a touch of hip hop and r 'n' b."
He has recorded with Prince, George Clinton and Brand New Heavies and has recorded a recent album under his own name Waltz of a Ghetto Fly, which show him to be a singer with a distinctive voice.
Ticket details are available on 0121 603 0033.
For something completely different, the weekly commuter jazz series in the Symphony Hall bar on Friday evening at 5.30pm this week is a one-off presentation by a top Czech group led by guitarist Pavel Jakub Ryba.
The band plays in the style of bands led by the great American guitarists like Pat Metheny and Mike Stern. Entry is free.
Then, next Wednesday, May 26, Birmingham Jazz present Paul Dunmall, Paul Rogers and Hamid Drake at the Midland Arts Centre Theatre.
A spokesman said: "This is a new collaboration with Drake, a brilliant and inspired drummer from Chicago and stupendous multi saxophonist Paul Dunmall and his extravagantly expressive bass player co-player Paul Rogers."
The evening begins at 8pm with tickets priced £9 from 0121 440 3838.
