A 'DEARTH' of public artwork in Redditch has prompted calls to utilise the town's historic industry of springs, needles and fishhooks.
During an arts forum, chairman of the Community Arts Festival Event (CAFE) Malcolm Hall, said the town was suffering from an absence of paintings, sculptures and other forms of public artwork.
He said: "We need something that shows we are proud of our town, such as structures on roundabouts which visitors would see.
"But instead we have a dearth of public arts."
Mr Hall wants to see a partnership between the council, spring manufacturers and NEW College to create a symbolic structure.
Mr Hall added: "Comparisons with the Angel of the North should be our starting point."
