THE thumbs-up have been given to the youth provision in Bromsgrove, a new report reveals.
Education watchdogs Ofsted have deemed the Worcestershire Youth Service satisfactory in a new-style report published on Monday.
The opinion of the report, which covers Bromsgrove's Ryland Centre and Youthworcs in Rubery, was that the standard of young people's achievement is good.
Youth workers were praised for being enthusiastic, who provide young people with innovative and imaginative programmes.
It also said recent funding from Worcestershire County Council had a positive impact on the service.
However, the report criticises the service for not encouraging young people to evaluate their learning or gain accreditation for their skills.
The inspection was one of the first in the country to be carried out on a youth service scheme.
It will be inspected once every four years.
Bromsgrove's county councillor, June Longmuir, who is also the cabinet member for education, said: "The assessment of satisfactory is good for a service which has only recently started developing from small beginnings and accepts the need to grow across the various geographical areas of the country. It's seen to have a bright future.
"To assist the development and support complimentary services to young people, this year's budget agreed an extra £250,000 for the voluntary sector to bid for as a means of building wider partnerships and an extended range of options for young people," added Cllr Longmuir.
"To help select applicants, of the youth parliaments will be part of the selection committee."
