This is a fine introduction to The Who but falls short in a couple of areas.
Townshend and Daltry have recorded two new tracks for this greatest hits selection, though are rumoured to have a whole new album in the pipeline later this year.
Apart from tinnitus, there is nothing more irritating than having to buy compilations of material you are likely to have just for two new tracks.
That grumble aside and the fact that there's been previous Who compilations with exactly the same material, the record is a good one - worth buying if you want to get into them.
The new material isn't bad either.
Real Good Looking Boy surprisingly starts with a piano reference to I Can't Help Falling In Love.
It's a fine song, though not a classic.
It's got a wistful Townshend melody and rather melancholic lyric about youthhood, sung as always with passion by Daltry.
The second new tune, Old Red Wine, is Townshend's tribute to his late great colleague John Entwistle who died two years ago. It's a reference to Entwistle's habit of drinking fine red wine way past its best and in it Townshend finds an analogy with Entwistle's life.
The songs bode well if a new album is in the offing.
