STRONG performances saw Bromsgrove Golf Club win through to the next round of the Hawtree Trophy by beating Bondhay Golf Club 4 and 1.
In this national club competition Bromsgrove pairing P Williams and B Philpots lost the opening game 2 and 1 before B Brehaut and A Kiernan, J Cound and D Byrne, J Piper and D Degge and N Batson and L Stirling all won their matches for victory.
Meanwhile, in the West Midlands League, the Stratford Road club secured a well-earned draw at Halesowen GC.
A defeat in the opening game for Pete Williams and Paul Barber was followed by convincing wins for John Barratt and Andy Henshaw and Chris Mole and Pete Fox. The final game resulted in a narrow defeat for Chris Fox and Dave Smallwood.
Elsewhere, B Claridge and P Halfpenny won the Dallaway Shield with 42 points in a close competition, with only four points separating the top ten pairings.
The senior men's winter league final saw Dave Thomas and Dermid Gardner defeat John Foster and Tony Aykroyd by two holes.
Bromsgrove also finished fourth in the latest Alliance League match, held at Warley Wood GC. The club is sixth in table with seven points from two fixtures.
