COFTON Hackett's George Bate rode to a superb second place in the British Schools Cycling Association's West Midlands Regional Circuit Race Championships at West Park, Wolverhampton.
Bate, aged 13, was runner-up in the boys category and fourth in the race overall.
He was one of three Olympique riders racing in the U14s category last Saturday.
Dominic Jelfs rode his best race of the season to be in contention at the finish, ending up fifth boy. Genevieve Billington could not quite handle the early fast pace and finished fourth girl.
This weekend sees the British Schools Regional Time Trial Championships at the Curborough Sprint circuit near Lichfield for the U12s and next Thursday at Hanbury for the over 12s.
Olympique's weekly ten-mile time trial takes place as normal.
Joe Rowe finished third in his 50-55 age group in the latest Percy Stallard National Series Road Race at Hormsdon last Sunday.
The Bromsgrove cyclist finished 11th overall and is second in his age series.
Bromsgrove's Howard Jones and John Callaghan finished fourth and fifth respectively in their age group at the LVRC Road Race at Raglan.
