THE April 8 meeting proved very enjoyable when members Sandra Boreham and Angela Stearn skilfully demonstrated ideas for construction and planting of annuals and perennials in tubs, hanging baskets and other containers.
On April 29, chairman Jenny Johnson outlined an interesting variety of future social events and thanks were expressed to Jean Thompson for arranging the most enjoyable theatre outing to see The Scarlet Pimpernel.
A warm welcome was given to member Julie Gallavan and husband Ron, who gave a talk with slides entitled Kuala Lumpur to Ningaloo, based on a stopover they made in Malaysia en route to Australia.
Today it is one of Asia's most vibrant cities but Kuala Lumpur began life as a tin-mining town.
Ultra modern buildings and a futuristic skyline includes the world's tallest building, the Petronas Twin Towers, but its colonial buildings, many by British architects, dating back to when it was a British colony, are still to be seen.
